What is Nisaa?

The Nisaa Institute for Women's Development was founded in 1994 by a group of committed women activists. Nisaa is a community based, non-governmental, non-profit organisation which focuses on the abuse of women and their children (who are secondary victims of abuse) and women's issues.
Nisaa is opposed to all forms of oppression, exploitation and violence against women. Nisaa subscribes to the principle of non-sectarianism and social transformation. The organisation is dedicated to promoting and acknowledging women as individuals and collective empowerment and their contribution to politics, economics, social and community based activities.

Nisaa is registered with the Director of Fundraising in Pretoria - Fundraising Number:011011270007.
Nisaa is also registered as a non-profit organisation - Registration Number: 004-410
as well as a Section 21 Company - Registration Number: 2001/01558/08.
